The Unfinished Lecture is a monthly event hosted by the Strategic Innovation Lab at OCAD and sponsored by Torch Partnership. Part of the Unfinished Business initiative, the lectures are intended to generate an open conversation about strategic innovation in the business and design of commercial enterprises and public organizations.
Welcome to the Business Model Generation - How Communities Can Use Design to Change How Business is Done
In his talk Alex will tell the story of how he and his team broke every
rule in the publishing industry to create a bestselling management book.
Business Model Generation - A Handbook for Visionaries, Game Changers
and Challengers was co-created by 470 people from 45 countries, was
financed through an online community and pre-sales, was self-published
and distributed through Amazon globally, and features a highly visual
design throughout the book, which was delivered by Toronto design company The Movement. This is how business books will be created in
the future. Alex will also reveal his newest project, "The Value of
Profits", a book and toolbox for entrepreneurs who want to go beyond
"mere" profits to have a substantial impact in the world in terms of
sustainability, social impact and poverty alleviation.
